Keith Wilkey, M.D.

We are pleased to announce that Keith Wilkey, M.D. has joined the staff of Bone and Joint Institute.

Dr. Wilkey was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio. He completed his undergraduate study at The Ohio State University. He then received his medical degree from Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine in Dayton, Ohio in 1989, where he graduated first in his class. While in medical school Dr. Wilkey received numerous awards and honors. The most memorable of those being a two-time recipient of the deans award, as well as being selected to be the China Medical Board traveling scholar.

His postgraduate medical education included a rotating internship (1989-1990) at Brooke Army Medical Center. Upon completion of his internship Dr. Wilkey began a two-year tour of duty for the United States Army as a brigade surgeon, serving during both Desert Shield and Desert Storm. He then returned to Brooke Army Medical Center where he completed his residency. Dr. Wilkey then began his private practice in Cincinnati, Ohio for eight years. It was during this time that he decided to further his education and training by completing a fellowship.

Dr. Wilkey completed his fellowship at the Leatherman Spine Institute at the University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky. During his time served in the Army, he gained extensive knowledge of spine surgeries, while working on the spine injuries of the soldiers that he encountered. Although these injuries were very unfortunate, they have provided Dr. Wilkey with extensive experience in his field, as well as providing the foundation for which his passion of becoming an orthopedic spine surgeon began. He furthered this knowledge by completing his residency 10 years later.

Dr. Wilkey has been married for twenty-one years to his high school sweetheart. He and his wife share two sons together. Once he completed his fellowship he told his wife to decide on a place to settle to raise their family. Since that time they have been residing in St. Louis. Dr. Wilkey's wife, Barbara, is a highly regarded patent attorney working for a prestigious law firm, Senniger and Powers, located in the city of St. Louis. Dr. Wilkey and his family are excited about living in a dynamic midwestern city.
